Paramedic<\/h1>\r\n

Paramedics are the highest level of medical providers in the EMS system. The Paramedic course teaches students how to read EKGs, start IVs, administer over 70 medications, use advanced airways, and be the team leader on EMS calls. The course is geared toward students wanting to work on an ambulance or for a fire department. The training is also beneficial to those who want to work in law enforcement (tactical paramedics) or pursue medical school.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Students who successfully meet all of the graduation requirements will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to take the Paramedic National Registry Exam. Once certified by NREMT, students are eligible to apply to the State of Texas and receive their State of Texas EMT-Paramedic certification.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Applicants must be currently certified as an EMT-Basic with NREMT prior to enrolling in a Paramedic course.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

* Courses with an asterisk mean the course has a mid-term NREMT AEMT test point for certification opportunity. This is not<\/strong> an AEMT exit point, as students are enrolled in a full paramedic class. AEMT topics are taught at the paramedic level.<\/small><\/p>\r\n
